Crisis Tools has closed – but our work continues
Between 2021 and 2025, more than 10,000 people used Crisis Tools to build their knowledge, skills and confidence to support young people in a mental health crisis. While Crisis Tools closed on 30 June 2025, our team of mental health and lived experience experts are now focused on our work in acute hospital settings through We Can Talk.
What happened to Crisis Tools?
Crisis Tools was an innovative e-learning platform that brought co-production and lived experience to online mental health crisis support training. Unfortunately, with the end of our funding in 2024 and no sustainable model in place, we had to close the site. We’re incredibly grateful to every young person, professional, parent, carer and organisation who made this project possible.
Please note: Due to the permissions we sought for filming videos and co-producing resources, we cannot share Crisis Tools materials for organisational training use. Individual users could download resources for personal use until the closure date.
Crisis Tools Academy programme has ended
The Crisis Tools Academy crisis line programme – our live training sessions for crisis line workers – has also concluded. This unique online training used co-production to help crisis line workers develop their approach to supporting young people in mental health crisis over the phone. The programme offered four independent half-day modules with 90-minute lectures followed by learning sets, totalling 12 hours of co-produced training facilitated by people with lived experience and mental health clinicians.
Our work continues with We Can Talk
The team behind Crisis Tools hasn’t gone anywhere – we’ve evolved. We’re now focused on supporting staff working in hospital settings through our We Can Talk programme. While Crisis Tools concentrated on young people, We Can Talk extends our expertise to support people of all ages in healthcare environments.
We Can Talk brings the same commitment to lived experience, co-production, and evidence-based approaches that made Crisis Tools successful. Our team continues to champion the voices of people with lived experience of mental health challenges, creating training and support that makes a real difference.
Why We Can Talk matters
Hospital staff face unique challenges when supporting people experiencing mental health crises. We Can Talk provides training that helps healthcare professionals feel more confident and effective in these crucial moments. Just as Crisis Tools empowered thousands to better support young people, We Can Talk is transforming how hospital staff approach mental health support across all age groups.
